Interactive Workshops
Ninety-minute working sessions that turn critical leadership and organizational concepts into practical tools your team applies immediately.
Frameworks rarely survive the meeting room
Leadership teams sit through plenty of training, then return to the same decisions, the same friction, the same execution gaps. The concepts are sound; the translation into daily practice is missing. What changes behavior is a session built for an intact team, where the tools get applied to the problems already on the table.

Capability that shows up in performance
Teams leave equipped to make better decisions, collaborate more effectively, and execute with greater discipline. The result is accelerated leadership capability and stronger operating performance — applied the moment the session ends.
Most leadership training is bought to be attended. JRA Interactive Workshops are built to be applied — by the intact team, to the decisions already on the table. Here is the choice a buyer actually faces.
- A 90-minute working session for your intact team, facilitated by Jack Ryan
- Topics curated from the JRA library and customized to your goals, applied to live problems
- Built so the team leaves with tools it can use on the work already in front of it
- A branded curriculum with production values and a consistent standard across clients
- Designed to scale across many organizations rather than to your team’s specific situation
- Delivery is typically staffed from a facilitator pool
- Knows the culture and the shorthand, and costs nothing to bring in
- Facilitates a room that includes their own colleagues and, often, their own leadership
- Draws on the frameworks already in the building
- Built around an individual rather than the team’s shared work
- Typically one-to-one; no group session for the team to align in real time
- No curated topic library to draw from
Built for the leaders who carry the decision
Frameworks do not change behavior. A team applying them to the work on the table does.

Succession planning is the classic “important, but not urgent” work. It never feels pressing until the call comes that a key leader is leaving in days.

What exactly is an Interactive Workshop?
An Interactive Workshop is a 90-minute working session for an intact leadership team — the people who already make decisions together — not a classroom of strangers. Each session takes a critical leadership or organizational concept and turns it into a practical tool the team applies on the spot, to the problems already on their table.
You choose from a curated topic library: Ten Things Great Leaders Do, Ten Things Great Teams Do, the critical levers that move culture, the four legs of talent retention, linking business and human-capital strategy, and leveraging diversity as a competitive advantage. Each is customizable to your goals, and a session can stand alone or run as part of a longer development program.
The format is deliberately short and active. Ninety minutes is enough to work a real issue and reach decisions, without consuming the calendar of an offsite. Sessions are facilitated by Jack Ryan, drawing on decades of operating and human-capital leadership at GE and Rockefeller Capital Management — so the conversation stays grounded in how businesses actually run. Explore the full set on the solutions overview or see how it fits the broader Talent & Leadership Solutions suite.
Why does the workshop format matter — isn’t this just training?
It matters because most training is forgotten before it is applied. Leadership teams sit through sound material, then return to the same decisions, the same friction, the same execution gaps. The concepts were never the problem; the translation into daily practice was missing.
An Interactive Workshop closes that gap by design. Because the room is an intact team rather than a mixed cohort, the tools get applied to the actual issues those people own together — and the alignment reached in the session carries straight back into the work. There is no hand-off, no week-three drop-off, no “how do we adapt this to us” left as homework.
The payoff is behavioral, not theoretical. Teams leave equipped to make better decisions, collaborate more effectively, and execute with greater discipline — and the effect shows up in operating performance, not just in a feedback form. If your team needs a candid read on how its leadership is actually landing before choosing a topic, the Leadership Impact Snapshot is a natural companion. The point of a workshop is the same as the point of the business: results you can see.
How do I choose the right topic for my team?
Start from the problem, not the title. The library is organized around the pressures leadership teams actually feel, so the right topic is usually the one that names the friction you are living with now.
If decisions are slow or ownership is fuzzy, Ten Things Great Leaders Do and Ten Things Great Teams Do sharpen how the group operates together. If you can feel the culture drifting, Critical Levers Impacting Culture isolates the few factors that actually move it. If you are losing people you cannot afford to lose, The Four Legs of Talent Retention surfaces why your best stay and what puts them at risk. If talent decisions and the operating plan have come unhooked, Linking Business and Human-Capital Strategy reconnects them.
You do not have to pick alone. Tell us the goal and we will tailor a session to it — and if a single conversation is clearly not enough, we will say so and point you toward the right path, whether that is a sequence of workshops or a fuller engagement. We would rather start you in the right place than sell you the easy one. Begin with a short conversation on the contact page, or browse the wider menu under solutions.
Who facilitates the sessions, and why does that matter?
Jack Ryan facilitates. That is the difference, and it is not a small one. With a big firm you typically get a branded curriculum delivered by whoever is on the bench that week; here you get the operator who built the material, in the room with your team.
That experience is specific. Jack served as an Officer and Chief Learning Officer at GE, ran the Crotonville leadership institute, and was CHRO of GE Capital and GE Aviation across a 29-year career. At Rockefeller Capital Management he sat on the Management Committee as CHRO and then COO while the firm grew from $17B to $160B in assets and from 180 to 1,500 people. The frameworks in the library are not borrowed; they were forged running and advising real businesses through real growth.
Why it matters: an outside operator of that standing can name a team’s dynamics with a candor an internal facilitator cannot, and can ground every tool in how decisions, talent, and performance actually connect. The conversation stays peer-to-peer with the boardroom, not academic. You can read the full background on the about page.
How does this fit with the rest of what JRA offers?
Interactive Workshops are the most accessible entry point into JRA’s work — a low-commitment way to put real capability in front of a team in 90 minutes. They also slot cleanly into the broader Talent & Leadership Solutions suite.
A common path: a workshop surfaces a sharper question — about an individual leader, a new team, or the organization as a whole — and the right next step follows naturally. If a single leader needs sustained development, Executive Coaching takes it deeper. If a team has just gained a new leader, New Leader Acceleration compresses the integration. If the question is organizational — where are we positioned to compete, and where are we exposed — the Competitive Index™ gives a data-driven read across eight dimensions.
Workshops can also run the other way: as the applied layer after a diagnostic, turning findings into shared tools and aligned action. You are never locked into a ladder. We will tell you whether a workshop is enough or whether something fuller fits the goal — that honesty is the point. To find the right starting point, request an introduction on the contact page.
