Talent & Leadership Solutions
Winning companies run on leadership strength and disciplined execution — and JRA builds both.
Talent risk is strategy risk
Most CEOs cannot say, with confidence, whether their leaders are ready for what the strategy demands next. Gaps in succession, bench depth, and team performance surface as missed priorities long before they show up in a review. JRA gives executive teams a clear, business-focused read on capability and risk — and a practical path to close the gap.
Six ways we strengthen leadership
A disciplined set of high-impact reviews of leadership performance, succession readiness, talent health and risk, and organizational competitiveness.
A data-driven read on where your organization stands across eight dimensions of competitive advantage.

Explore →New Leader AccelerationA structured 90-day program that accelerates a new leader’s integration with the team they now lead.
Explore →Leadership Impact SnapshotA concise, candid read on how your leadership is landing with your team — and the moves that sharpen it.

Explore →Confidence in the bench
Executive teams build capability, reduce talent risk, and gain confidence that the people leading the work can deliver the strategy. Leadership strength becomes a measurable, managed advantage rather than an open question.
Talent & Leadership Solutions is the umbrella suite — Talent Playbook, Competitive Index™, Executive Readiness Assessment, New Leader Acceleration, Leadership Impact Snapshot, and Executive Coaching. The choice isn’t which tool; it’s who builds your bench. Here is how the options compare.
- A single senior advisor — Jack Ryan, who ran GE’s Crotonville Leadership Institute, served as CHRO of GE Capital and GE Aviation, then CHRO and COO/CAO at Rockefeller Capital Management.
- One integrated suite: diagnose, assess, accelerate, and coach with the same hand and the same read of your business.
- Confidential and bespoke — built for your strategy rather than adapted from a standard program.
- A branded methodology, deep resources, and delivery typically staffed to a project team.
- Talent, succession, and coaching are often sold and run as separate workstreams.
- The senior name on the proposal is not always the person doing the work.
- Closest to the business, the people, and the history — and already accountable for the outcome.
- Bench reviews compete with hiring, compliance, and the day job for time.
- No outside benchmark for what strong leadership looks like beyond your own walls.
- Focused on one leader at a time; organizational risk and succession sit outside the scope.
- Development-led rather than diagnostic — no bench view across the leadership team.
- Operating experience varies, and it shapes what the coaching can speak to.
Built for the leaders who carry the decision
Your strategy is only as good as the leaders you trust to execute it. Talent risk is strategy risk — and it is manageable.

Succession planning is the classic “important, but not urgent” work. It never feels pressing until the call comes that a key leader is leaving in days.

What is Talent & Leadership Solutions, and how is it different from the individual offerings?
Talent & Leadership Solutions is the umbrella suite that brings every JRA capability under one roof: the Talent Playbook, the Competitive Index™, the Executive Readiness Assessment, New Leader Acceleration, the Leadership Impact Snapshot, and Executive Coaching.
The individual offerings answer a single question — is this leader ready, how is this leader landing, will this new hire integrate. The suite answers the bigger one: is your leadership, as a whole, ready for what the strategy demands next?
It matters because talent gaps rarely announce themselves. They surface as missed priorities, stalled teams, and a succession plan that has to be rebuilt under pressure. Running these tools in isolation gives you data points. Running them as a connected program — diagnose the organization, assess the leaders, accelerate the transitions, coach the few who matter most — gives you a managed bench. You start with the highest-leverage piece, then sequence the rest. See the full set on the Solutions overview.
Where should we start across the suite?
It depends on the question keeping you up at night, and the first conversation is about finding that question precisely.
If you cannot say with confidence how well your organization is positioned to compete, start with the Competitive Index™ — a fast, eight-dimension read that shows the highest-impact levers before you spend a dollar developing people. If the pressure is a specific promotion or succession decision, begin with the Executive Readiness Assessment. If a key leader is stepping into a role that matters, New Leader Acceleration sets the foundation in the first 90 days.
When you need a candid read on how a senior leader is landing without a full work-up, the Leadership Impact Snapshot delivers it in days. And when one leader is worth a direct, sustained investment, Executive Coaching turns insight into performance. There is no fixed order. You start where the risk is greatest and the return is fastest — and Jack will tell you which that is. Request an introduction and we will map it.
How does the suite actually work — what does an engagement look like?
It begins with a focused diagnosis, not a pitch. We establish the business context: the strategy, the priorities the next 18 months demand, and where leadership capability is strongest and most exposed. Often that read comes from the Competitive Index™ or the Leadership Impact Snapshot.
From there we sequence the work. Key leaders move through the Executive Readiness Assessment to ground succession decisions in evidence. New leaders run New Leader Acceleration to integrate fast. The handful who carry the strategy get Executive Coaching. The Talent Playbook ties it together — a disciplined cadence of reviews covering leadership performance, succession readiness, talent health and risk, and organizational competitiveness.
Because one senior advisor carries the read across every step, nothing gets lost in translation between workstreams. You are not assembling a binder; you are building a bench you can stand behind. Engagements scale from a single diagnostic to an ongoing advisory relationship, sized to the decisions in front of you.
Why choose a single advisor over a large firm with more resources?
Because at the level where talent decisions are made, judgment beats horsepower. A large firm brings a branded methodology and a project team — frequently junior, often rotating. The senior name on the proposal rarely does the work.
With JRA, the senior name is the work. Jack Ryan ran the Crotonville Leadership Institute, served as an Officer and Chief Learning Officer at GE, was CHRO of GE Capital and GE Aviation across a 29-year career, then sat on the Management Committee of Rockefeller Capital Management as CHRO and later COO while the firm grew from $17B to $160B in assets and from 180 to 1,500 people.
That means you get an operator who has made the calls you are facing — not a framework borrowed from a classroom. The work is bespoke and confidential: built for your strategy, discussed with you directly, not staffed out. For a private-equity sponsor underwriting a management team, a CEO weighing succession, or a CHRO who needs an outside benchmark, that senior-only model is the point. Learn how this serves owners and CEOs, private equity, and CHROs and HR leaders.
We have a capable HR team. What does JRA add that they cannot?
A strong HR function is essential, and JRA is built to strengthen it — not replace it. What an internal team cannot easily provide is distance and an operator’s benchmark.
Your HR leaders are close to the people, the politics, and the history. That closeness is an asset for execution and a liability for candor: it is genuinely hard to tell the CEO that a long-tenured favorite is not ready, or to grade your own succession plan objectively. An outside advisor can say the unwelcome thing, and it carries differently coming from someone who has run a P&L and a global workforce.
JRA also brings a benchmark forged outside your walls — a clear, tested view of what great leadership and a healthy bench actually look like, drawn from GE and Rockefeller. The Talent Playbook gives your CHRO a disciplined review cadence they can own going forward, and the assessments give them defensible evidence rather than impressions. Many of our best partnerships are with capable CHROs who want a senior peer in the room for the highest-stakes calls. See how we partner with CHROs and HR leaders, or request an introduction.
How do you measure whether this is working?
Talent work earns a reputation for being soft because too much of it never connects to the business. JRA starts from the opposite premise: every recommendation ties to a business outcome.
At the front end, the diagnostics produce concrete reads — the Competitive Index™ scores eight dimensions of competitiveness, the Executive Readiness Assessment delivers a defensible verdict on readiness with named development priorities. Those give you a clear baseline rather than a vibe.
From there, success looks like decisions you can stand behind and behavior you can see change. New Leader Acceleration includes a 90-day check-in against the goals set at the start. Coaching engagements track against the role expectations and operating priorities defined up front. Over time, the suite shows up where it should: in succession plans you trust, in teams that execute, and in fewer expensive mis-hires and stalled transitions.
We will agree on what good looks like before the work begins, so you are never guessing whether the investment paid off. Start the conversation and we will define those measures together.
